Creative Commons
In response to some of the issues raised in this 2003 edition of NOW, Lawrence Lessig suggested a new type of some-rights registration.
Creative Commons is non-profit organization publishing works under a voluntary "some rights reserved" copyright, thus making works free for futher creative use.
Yahoo has developed a specific search engine to locate these works.
This model is also being developed for music.

WRITERS' ORGANIZATIONS IN NEW ZEALAND



New Zealand Society of Authors
Begun as the New Zealand chapter of PEN, NZSA now offers mentoring for emerging writers, a bi-monthly journal, seminars and leaflets on writing-related topics, contract and legal advice (including a model contract); members may purchase homepages from the Society; the public may purchase discounted, remaindered books direct from author-members. Ordinary and Associate memberships are available.

PEN New Zealand
PEN New Zealand, like PEN Centres everywhere, is generally concerned with freedom of speech and expression.

New Zealand Writers Guild
The Guild is a professional, non-profit association for writers in film, television, theatre, radio, video and multimedia. It promotes the interests of its members by providing contractual advice, credit arbitration, craft evenings, workshops and registration services.
