excerpt from ORPHEUS

... and the dead unliving dark
that is the groin of Dis
spat him into the world
with the shades still whispering in his mind
with the darkness still whispering in his fingers
with the emptiness still whispering in his heart
and the only sound his flute could make
was the sound of an axe.

It was the howling of a dog
that brought his flesh back to his bones
and made him walk again.

When Orpheus emerged from the underworld
the rivers were still branches of stone

and the sea was bitten metal.
